E-bulletin from the Diocese of Truro
No.107 February 2012

In this issue Springboards for outreach

Lynda Barley writes...

I am greatly enjoying my dual role of Diocesan Secretary and Canon Pastor, and really getting to know the Diocese of Truro. Everyone has been very welcoming and I am impressed by all that is going on. As I have been meeting people and listening to their stories, I have become keen to harness all the energy and ideas to take us forward as we discover the Kingdom and grow the Church.

I hope we can work together more closely to share our experiences during 2012. One of the key pillars of turning that into reality is the seizing of opportunities to become a focus for local community initiatives – to be springboards for outreach; and this year, in particular, there are two national events which will give us all a chance to reach out and enrich our sense of community. I refer, of course, to the Olympics and the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

The ‘More than Gold’ week of activities offers churches – large and small – an opportunity to be part of the Olympic experience; while the ‘Big Lunch’ & ‘Big Thank You’ will provide a chance to participate in the celebration of Queen Elizabeth’s Jubilee Year.

Details for both these events will evolve as the year unfolds and will appear in The Coracle, e-Bulletin and on the website. But to begin making your plans now, click here.

Draft Parochial Fees Order 2012

2011 fees remain in force until further notice. A further update will be posted after the February 2012 sessions of the General Synod.

At its recent group of sessions in York, the General Synod declined to approve the Draft Parochial Fees Order that had been laid before it by the Archbishops' Council. The Draft Order had been prepared by the Council under powers contained in the Ecclesiastical Fees Measure 1986, as recently amended by the Ecclesiastical Fees (Amendment) Measure 2011.

The effect of the Synod's decision is that the 2011 fees table will remain in force until further notice.
